KELPIE

Kelpies are water-based fae creatures associated with horses.
[example species: unicorns, horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, zebras, etc]

✧ MANDATORY ✧
✦ Feeding: Energy (via drowning).
✦ Animal ears and tail.
✦ Thicker nails or claws on fingers and toes.
✦ Hair always appears damp.
✦ Travel form. Kelpies may turn into a normal horse or animal to travel faster at the cost of being more vulnerable. This may happen involuntarily due to startle reflex.
✦ Skittishness. Kelpies startle much more easily at sudden noises and movements and may shift into horse form when frightened.
✦ Sticky hold. Kelpies can cling to others or make anyone who touches them stick. This is primarily used to drown human victims.
✦ The ability to walk on the surface of water, as well as walk along the base of water like the riverbed or ocean floor.
✦ Sharper senses both on land and underwater.
✦ Underwater breathing, or the ability to hold one's breath an extremely long time.
✦ Liquid form and illusory magic. Kelpies cannot manipulate water directly but can melt into a liquid form to become immune to physical harm. They can also project illusions via water refraction or when touching water of any kind, both to dazzle or misdirect as well as to hide what they look like or their actual physical location.
✦ Weakness to iron. Snares, traps, weapons etc. made of iron burn on contact and suppress kelpies' magic.

✧ OPTIONAL ✧
✦ Feeding: Flesh, with a preference for organs.
✦ Water type sensitivity. While kelpies can swim in all waters, some may develop a preference for a specific type (typically freshwater). This ranges from simple preference to significant hindrance or weakness.
✦ Sharp, needle-like teeth.
✦ A sickly thin appearance.
✦ Seaweed-like hair, mane, and tail.
✦ Horse or other animal features including fur, digitigrade legs and hooves, etc. This may include horizontal pupils to give a much broader field of vision, at the cost of increased skittishness and disorientation.
✦ Satyr form. A separate in-between form with digitigrade legs and hooves.
✦ Centaur form. Another separate in-between form.
✦ Prehensile seaweed tendrils coming from the back that can entangle others.
✦ Unicorn horn.
✦ Webbed fingers and toes, or paws, in place of traditional hooves.
✦ Cold resistance.
✦ Luring abilities via eye contact.
✦ Weakness to bridling. If a bridle or leash noose is secured over a kelpie, they can be compelled to act in the tether holder's service.
