WERE
Weres are carnivore shapeshifters, with at least two distinct forms. Specific animal groups have additional abilities.
✧ MANDATORY ✧
✦ Feeding: Flesh and bone.
✦ Shifter forms. Weres have two distinct main forms of day and night. Every night, they turn into a more bestial form and must be exposed to sun to change back. Day form can look almost entirely human (save for sharp teeth or other minor tells), or have obvious animal/monstrous elements, so long as the night form is distinctly different and is the more monstrous form.
✦ Sharper teeth and claws.
✦ Sharper senses. Weres can hear and smell much better than the average person, and all of them have excellent night vision.
✦ A weakness to silver and wolfsbane. Direct contact causes painful burns. Ingesting the flower or being shot with a silver bullet can kill.
✦ Post-transformation fatigue. Night form imbues them with more energy, but on average they feel more sluggish after returning to day form, and thus tend to be nocturnal.
✦ Animal ears and tail.
✦ Fur on the back, shoulders, and arms.
✧ OPTIONAL ✧
✦ Travel form. Weres may take the shape of a mundane animal and may travel more quickly and stealthily, in exchange for being more vulnerable.
✦ Bright yellow eyes.
✦ Fur anywhere else on the body.
✦ Other animalistic body changes such as digitigrade legs, paw pads, etc.
✦ Longer arms for the ability to run on all fours.
✦ Partial or full shifting during moments of high emotion.
✦ A deadly infectious bite.
✦ Pack instincts. Weres are often naturally drawn to others and enjoy working cooperatively, especially when hunting.
WOLVES
[example species: wolves, foxes, hyenas, jackals, dogs, coyotes, tanuki, kangaroos]
✦ Lunar influence. Werewolves may feel their strength waxing and waning with the phases of the moon. During the full moon, weres may take their night form at will, and at night they have access to a "full moon form" that is generally larger and more visually extravagant than their normal night form.
✦ Increased speed/agility.
✦ Extremely powerful bite.
✦ Superhuman leaping abilities.
BEARS
[example species: bears, pandas, opossums, tasmanian devils, wombats, koalas, wolverines, badgers, raccoons, skunks]
✦ Skinchanger pelt. Werebears may shed their pelt and appear as a normal human for roughly half the night, leaving behind a hide or fashionable fur coat, which they can tuck away or wear as they please. They keep all their strengths and abilities in this form. Trying to remain in this form past the time limit causes intense discomfort - feelings of being crushed or their skin being too small for them, severe vertigo and spatial awareness issues, pain and itchiness, and so on. If the fur is damaged, destroyed, or stolen, they will be drastically weakened and experience these negative side effects until their next nightly shapeshift, which is then significantly more exhausting and painful.
✦ Increased strength and size.
✦ More powerful BEARhanded strikes.
✦ Superhuman climbing abilities.
WEASELS
[example species: weasels, stoats, ferrets, otters, mongooses, meerkats]
✦ Noodle body. Wereweasels can seem to stretch and constrict others, escape nearly any bonds that aren't silver-infused, and slither through comparatively small gaps. It's extremely difficult to prevent a wereweasel from going where they want.
✦ Increased agility/flexibility.
✦ Superhuman digging abilities.
✦ An innate ability to navigate underground or in tunnels.
