SHADE
Shades are incorporeal creatures of darkness.
Design Inspirations: Shadows, nightmares, ghosts and hauntings.
✧ MANDATORY ✧
✦ Feeding: Souls and/or energy [via fear].
✦ Incorporeal. Shades can pass through walls and other solid objects and cannot be physically harmed by others, but can still harm others themselves.
✦ Shades' default form may express in a variety of ways aesthetically - a shadow, a ghost, a living ink creature (flat 2d drawing or 3d ink beast), a glitchy projection, etc.
✦ Shades can shapeshift and change their features as desired aesthetically, including projecting themselves larger or smaller.
✦ Solid form can be maintained with concentration. This can be combined with shapeshifting to resemble their old form or nearly any form as desired, at least temporarily.
✦ A shadowy aura. This may be literal, or manifest as a sense of discomfort, dread or fear in proximity to the shade.
✦ Telekinetic abilities. Shades can move objects with their minds, including living targets.
✦ Possession. Similar to demons, shades can possess targets, but can also possess non-sentient targets such as animals, puppets, etc.
✦ Weakness to light. Direct sunlight causes shades to dissipate into weak, formless haze and will kill them eventually, but shades can jump from shadow to shadow if they take breaks.
✦ Perfect night vision.
✧ OPTIONAL ✧
✦ Shades do not have a dedicated travel form but can possess small objects or animals indefinitely and use them to travel or stealth. While possessing a target they are immune to sunlight.
✦ Glowing eyes of any color, though blank white is most frequent.
✦ Sharp teeth and claws.
✦ Prehensile, retractable shadowy tendrils.
✦ Electronics disruption and manipulation. Can short-circuit or destroy electronics easily, or use them to project fears.
✦ Dreamwalking and nightmare manifestations. As another facet of their telepath, possession and fear abilities, shades may be able to enter the dreams of others or manifest a target's nightmares temporarily in the real world.
✦ Emotional bleed. Shades may feel the emotions of those around them, and conversely, their emotions may be felt by others.
✦ Vengeful nature. Shades have a hard time letting go of grudges and perceived slights.
